Materials & Craftsmanship
Materials Care
Every piece begins with skilled hands and rare materials: silk drawn thread by thread, lace worked stitch by stitch.
Care for it with the same attention with which it was created, and it will accompany you for years to come.
Naturally Exceptional
Silk
Renowned for its luminous finish and incomparable softness, silk is lightweight, breathable and naturally thermoregulating. La Perla silk creations are designed and developed at the La Perla Atelier in Bologna. Depending on the collection, silk is woven and finished in Italy, including in the Lake Como region, or crafted in China by specialist silk manufacturers, with quality control carried out in Bologna.

Frequently asked question
How should I hand wash delicate lingerie?
Use cool or lukewarm water and a small amount of gentle detergent formulated for delicate garments. Wash each piece gently without rubbing, wringing or twisting, then rinse thoroughly and press out excess water with care. Allow to air dry naturally, always following the instructions on the care label.
How can I protect lace and embroidery?
Handle lace, embroidery and delicate trims with particular care. Avoid contact with jewellery, zips, rough surfaces or sharp objects that may catch the threads. When washing, do not rub or twist the fabric and, if machine washing is permitted, always use a protective laundry bag.
How should I care for silk?
Silk requires particularly gentle care. Always follow the garment care label, as instructions may vary according to the construction and finish of each piece. Avoid heat, harsh detergents, prolonged soaking and direct sunlight, and allow the garment to dry naturally to help preserve its softness, lustre and fluidity.
Can I machine wash my lingerie?
Always check the care label first. If machine washing is permitted, place your lingerie in a protective laundry bag and select a delicate cycle at a maximum of 30°C, using a gentle detergent. Fasten hooks before washing and avoid bleach, fabric softeners and high-speed spinning. For particularly delicate pieces, hand washing is recommended.
Should I use fabric softener?
We recommend avoiding fabric softener, particularly on lingerie and delicate fabrics. It can affect the elasticity and performance of certain fibres and leave a residue on delicate materials. Instead, use a small amount of gentle detergent specifically formulated for delicate garments, always following the care label.
Can I tumble dry my garments?
We recommend avoiding tumble drying, as heat can affect delicate fibres, elastics and intricate details. Gently reshape your garment after washing and allow it to air dry naturally, away from direct sunlight and heat. Always follow the specific instructions on the care label.
How should I store seasonal pieces?
Before storing, make sure each piece is clean and completely dry. Fold garments gently and keep them in a cool, dry place, ideally in a breathable fabric bag or dedicated drawer. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, humidity and heat, and keep delicate lace, embroidery and trims away from rough surfaces or sharp objects.
