LA PERLA CELEBRATES THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIKINI WITH ITS NEW WIRED MODELS

The bikini enters its 70th year and La Perla has been there for most of the style journey of this garment which has played a central role in fashion history. Halfway through the '60s, the founder Ada Masotti decided to extend her creativity to the world of beachwear, but it was the following decade – the fabulous '70s – that proved to be decisive for the brand to establish itself in this sector. Following fashion developments, La Perla bikinis increasingly became an expression of exclusive style with techniques such as soutache, folds, sequinned embroidery and sculptural effects.

Today, for the Fall/Winter 2016/17 season, the brand presents its WIRED bikinis, which represent a new take on beachwear. Gloss metal wiring, inspired by that used in lingerie, features externally as a decorative element and materials such as nude tulle and transparent plastic create innovative effects on the body. The briefs feature a minimalist design and allow the bikini tops to play a different, more versatile role. Both on and off the beach.

A MOOD OF TRANSFORMATION

FALL/WINTER 2016/17 BAGS COLLECTION

La Perla completes the F/W 2016/17 collection, presenting the signature Daily Bag and Weekend Bag. Soft tumbled calfskin contrasts with angular leather elements that highlight the geometric design. Both bags are hugely versatile: the volume can be modified by folding the corners or via an interior hook, adapting the bags to more casual or more formal looks with three different shapes suitable for any time of day.
The collection is complemented by the Beach Bag, a two-tone tote in woven fabric with a raffia effect and leather and canvas elements.

F/W 2016-17 SHOES COLLECTION

For Fall/Winter 2016/17, La Perla will release a range of sandals, booties and pumps crafted in Italy from the most supple, luxurious leather, in modern and classic sensual designs. All three models features graceful lines and glossy patent heels, while the sandals and booties can be personalised with changeable straps in leather or metal. The stiletto heel features metallic detail creating an optical illusion that carves a beautiful silhouette. Shaped to elongate the look of legs, these shoes are designed and feature “Cloud 9” technology for total heel-to-toe comfort.
Calfskin and ankle straps are also used for the flat thong sandals, creating a look of relaxed, easy elegance.

THE VERSATILITY OF THE BODYSUIT

A SEASONAL MUST-HAVE

The bodysuit is versatile and, by nature, perfect for breaking boundaries between categories of garments, dressing the body to create something new every time. The weave of the Leavers lace and the embroidered motifs express themselves as a second skin, opening up with cut-outs at the sides and playing with overlays thanks to the transparency of the tulle. The full swimsuits, too, succumb to the temptation to transform, becoming bodysuits that can be worn with jackets, trousers and skirts as style companions for perfect looks from day to evening.

THE NEW LA PERLA S/S 2016 PRINT

A garden of Eden full of fantasy creatures – peacock-tailed giraffes and birds with butterfly wings – is the inspiration behind La Perla's print for S/S 2016. These printed garments have been created with versatility in mind, to compliment all the lingerie and beachwear collections, giving a bold look to day and evening outfits.
The cross back strap floor-length dress, masculine-cut shirt, wide-leg trousers and hooded jumpsuit all feature fluid forms that glide across the body. The knee-length skirt goes perfectly with a bustier or a one-piece, and the shorts are the ideal compliment for a bikini.
The print has been designed in two variations: on a white background, the winged animals appear in fresh summer colours in shades of blue, while on a black background they are featured among tropical rainforest flowers.

SPRING SUMMER 2016: THE CAMPAIGN

The La Perla Spring/Summer 2016 campaign reveals and transforms lingerie with the concept of Extended Intimacy

Mariacarla Boscono, Liu Wen, Natasha Poly and Wouter Peelen feature the new collections Extended Intimacy: bras, bustiers, nightdresses and swimsuits all take on a new identity and become the focal points of looks that go beyond the intimate; garments to be shown off in all their refined glory.
 
This is the common thread that runs through the shots taken by the pair of photographers, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, whose unmistakable style has been imprinted on the world of international fashion.
 
The fundamental brand values of sensuality, elegance and luxury are represented by three style icons who have already been featured in previous campaigns. The choice of which creations each wears has been guided by their individual personality and flair in expressing the many subtle shades of femininity.
 
The theatrical sensuality of Mariacarla Boscono shines through with bold looks such as the all-white Merveille rebrodé lace bra, silk shirt and trousers rendered unique by the Neoprene Desire pocket belt.
 
The natural and harmonious elegance of the Chinese top model Liu Wen – La Perla ambassador in Asia since 2014 – is captured in a powder-pink look centred around the striking interlaced Macramé Art bodysuit, paired with the feather-light Reverie silk trousers.
 
A constellation of crystals twinkle on the black bodysuit from the La Perla Atelier collection, with Natasha Poly emphasising its luxury, wearing the Frames tulle jumpsuit and Desire Neoprene shorts.
 
The La Perla men's concept, interpreted through underwear, sleepwear, beachwear and loungewear collections, is fronted by Dutch model Wouter Peelen, whose casual-contemporary look perfectly sets off the refined Silk Noblesse herringbone-motif jacket, worn with the Future shirt and Silk Way trousers.
 
The photographic material for the S/S 2016 campaign has been shot in London under the creative direction of Fabien Baron, who has collaborated on the turnaround in the La Perla brand's strategic and marketing approach since its acquisition by the holding Pacific Global Management.

IN THE SIGN OF THE ANCHOR

NEW BEACHWEAR SILHOUETTES

The anchor shape is the inspiration behind the most iconic swimsuits of the La Perla beachwear collection A/W 2015. The collection's swimsuit and bikini feature architectural lines designed on the body and outlined by a row of thin cord using soutache, one La Perla's exclusive techniques. Gold and silver reflections play across the ANCHOR swimsuits, presented on the Parisian catwalk in the Atelier Collection as striking pieces for an evening outfit, teamed with garments in silk organza.
 
These creations are an example of La Perla's new stylistic direction, launching highly versatile garments that can be worn for different occasions. These swimsuits also have a sharper, bolder side in the model in technical neoprene-effect fabric, available in white and in black.

THE NEW JEWEL SANDALS

A CONSTELLATION OF CRYSTALS

3,600 crystals. A dazzling constellation for every pair of embroidered sandals, that wrap the feet in the same floral motifs of the cult La Perla Maison Atelier Edition Collection: night robes, bodysuits, tracksuits and long-line bras in silk and crystals that move between the realms of lingerie and clothing. These 12 cm stiletto-heeled sandals feature as one of the star pieces in the Autumn/Winter 2015 season. The crystals are embroidered on the same silk satin as the lingerie collections and trace an evocative leaf weave pattern with frastaglio edging.
