In 1954, Ada Masotti, a woman full of talent and courage, gave birth to her dream and founded in Bologna an atelier of lingerie under the sign of the best Italian tradition. The name of this corsetry laboratory was full of promises, La Perla. To choose it Ada Masotti was inspired by a box lined in red velvet in which she presented her creations as if they were jewels.

Ada Masotti was trained in the city’s best atelier becoming a skilled corset maker. Her skillful hands knew how to create small works of art to enhance the feminine beauty. Thanks to this experience she laid down the foundations of that unique know-how that is still today an integral part of the La Perla philosophy. The artisan heritage, the know-how of the female body, the fusion of innovation and tradition, the Italian identity: these chromosomes of the La Perla’s DNA transformed the little lingerie laboratory into a leader company in the underwear and beachwear sectors.

As of June 2013, the company is part of Pacific Global Management, the holding company that includes in its portfolio two global networks of the fashion and music worlds, Elite World and Gold Typhoon.

La Perla for nearly 60 years has followed the evolution of the female body through different fashions and trends becoming the lingerie and beachwear brand synonymous with “Made in Italy” luxury. The La Perla style is a tribute to the timeless femininity and continues to embody those ideals of sensuality and preciousness that have made the company one of a kind since it was established.

As well as being present with its collections in the best wholesalers and department stores, La Perla has created a chain of flagship boutiques which are situated at the heart of the most important fashion streets around the world.
