Joelle
THE ARISTOCRATIC ENCHANTRESS
As subtle as the soft shades in the colour samples or the precious laces echoing the atmosphere of nineteenth-century paintings, aristocratic and ennobled with satin ribbons, the Joelle spring/summer 2008 collection tells the enigmatic story of a Mysterious Enchantress, part witch part Beautiful Merciless Lady of northern legends. A hint of melancholy returns from the past and materialises in fabrics that envelop, enlivened by ribs, flounces and gatherings, enriched by lacework, and embroidered with flowers in bloom and hypnotic contours like waves on the water. A maze of ideas where nothing is exactly what it seems, and even the most disarming simplicity is the result of an alchemy of sophisticated workmanship and glamorous ideas from the latest catwalk shows.
COLOUR SAMPLES
They are the colours of a garden in flower, seen in sunlight or in twilight: white, light “sky” blue, black, “hydrangea” lilac, pink, grey melange, turquoise, dark blue, powder, cream.
